As per GOI,MHA order No.I-11011/48/2011-IS-IVDated: 21.06.2011, NIA took over the investigation of FIR No. 6(4)/2011 Dated. 15/04/2011 of Police Station:-Litan Dist- Ukhrul, Manipur, and re- registered the case on 18/07/2011 at PS NIA, Guwahati as Case No. RC-02/2011/NIA/GUWI Under Section 302, 307, 326, 427, 400, 34 of IPC, Section - 16(1), 18, 20 of UA(P) Act and Section 25(1-C) of Arms Act .

Summary of Allegations

On 15/04/2011 at about 2:30 pm, a reliable information was received that Sri. Wungnaoshang Keishing, Hon’ble MLA of Phungyar A/C (Assembly Constituency) and escort party were ambushed by some unknown persons armed with sophisticated weapons at New Canon Village while the MLA and his escort party were returning from Riha Village towards Imphal in 03 Maruti Gypsies. As a result 08 (eight) persons died, and 07 personnel of 1st MR & 6th MR and one civilian were seriously injured. The injured victims were immediately evacuated to RIMS & Shija Hospital, Imphal for proper medical treatment. In the incident, the said vehicles were badly damaged.
