Summary of Allegations

On 30.03.2018, a written complaint/information was lodged by P. Manjit Singh, Commandant, 2nd Bn, Manipur Rifles, to the Officer-in-Charge of Imphal PS, on the fact that he resumed the charge of commandant of 2nd Bn, Manipur Rifles, Imphal on 05.02.2018. A committee was formed vide order No. B-2/11/2015-2MR/460 dated 08.02.2018, to examine the present holding of arms and ammunitions of both the unit and the PHQ Pool.

The committee submitted its preliminary report vide letter No. nil dated 29.02.2018, stating that out of 570 number of Auto 9mm 1 A pistols received from the PHQ on 11.09.2014, 58 number of pistols with magazines have been found missing.

The responsibility of the safe keeping of the PHQ Pool arms and ammunition inside the Arms Kote of the battalion quarter guard was entrusted to Hav. No. 60985, Damodaran N.P and Rfn. No. 0296004, Narayan Chhetry. They were holding the keys of the PHQ Pool Arms Kote since 2000 and 2011 till date, respectively. Both the above persons have criminally conspired and misappropriated the PHQ Pool arms and ammunition with common intentions.

Present Status of Investigation

The case is under investigation.
