Wagamon SIMI Camp Case
As per Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs order No. 11034/31/2009-IS-IV dated 24/12/2009 National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the investigation of FIR No. 257/2008 of Mundakayam, Police Station, Kottayam district and re-registered the
case on 21/01/2010 at NIA Police Station, New Delhi as RC- 04/2010/ NIA/DLI under sections 120(B), 122, 124(A), 153(A) of IPC, sections 3, 5, 10 & 13 of UA (P) Act, Sections 3, 4 of Explosive Substances Act and sections 25 & 27 of Arms Act.
Summary of Allegations
In the month of December, 2007, a secret training camp was organized by activists of the banned organization SIMI at Thangalpara, Wagamon within the limits of Mundakayam Police Station, Kerala. The intention of organizing such a training camp by SIMI was
to wage war against the nation.
Present Status
NIA filed initial charge sheet against 30 arrested accused persons on 13/01/2011, first supplementary charge sheet was filed against 6 accused persons (including one absconder) on 29/07/2013 and second supplementary charge sheet filed against two absconding
accused persons on 30.12.2015 before the Hon’ble Special Court for Trial of NIA Cases, Ernakulam. Trial is yet to be scheduled. Two suspected absconding accused were dropped as the investigation revealed no evidence against them meriting prosecution.
