Vellamunda Maoist case

As per Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs order No. 11011/64/2015-IS.IV dated 14th December, 2015, National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation of FIR No. 142/2014 of Vellamunda Police Station, Wayanad District, Kerala and re- registered the case on 02/01/2016 at NIA Police Station, Kochi as RC-01/2016/NIA/KOC under sections 143, 147, 148, 452, 427, 506(II), 435, 124(A) read with section 149 of IPC, Sections: 25(1)(a)(3) of Arms Act and Sections: 10, 13, 19 and 20 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. 1967.

Summary of Allegations

Members/activists of CPI (Maoist), a terrorist organization under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, formed an unlawful assembly with deadly weapons, trespassed into the house of Shri A.B.Pramod, Senior Civil Police Officer, trained their guns at him and threatened to kill him. They asked him to resign his job in Police department and set fire to his motorcycle causing a loss of Rs.30,000/- besides making a call for armed revolution, affecting integrity of the state.

Present Status

Kerala Police filed charge sheet against 4 (four) accused persons before the Hon’ble Sessions Court, Kalpetta, Kerala on 01.01.2016. Further investigation by NIA is in progress.
