Kannur PFI Case

As per GOI, MHA Order No. F.N0.11011/39/2013-IS-IV dated 24.07.2013 NIA has taken over the investigation of FIR No No.276/2013 dated 23.04.2013 of Mayyil Police Station, and re-registered the case on 07.08.2013 at PS NIA, Kochi as case No. RC- 05/2013/NIA/KOC U/S 143, 147, 153, 153(A) & 149 IPC r/w Sections 13(1)(a)(b), 18 & 18 (A) of UA (P) Act r/w Section 4 & 5 of Explosive Substances Act & Section 5(1)(a) & 25(1)(a) of Arms Act.

Summary of Allegation

On 23.04.2013, a group of persons belonging to PFI/SDPI organized a terrorist camp at Narath, Kannur District, Kerala and entered into criminal conspiracy to impart training to some youth for using explosives and weapons, with an intention to prepare them for terrorist activities, and to commit acts endangering the unity and integrity of the Nation.

Present Status

Trial of the case is completed against all 22 charge sheeted accused and the NIA Special Court, Ernakulam pronounced judgment on 20.01.2016. A-1 was convicted for 7 years Simple Imprisonment with fine, A-2 to A-21 were convicted for 5 years Simple Imprisonment with fine and A-22 was acquitted. Further investigation is in progress against A-23 and A-24.
